IFNG and myocarditis: CVB3-stimulated NK cells cultured with estrogen down-regulated T-bet expression and consequently had reduced IFN-γ production, indicating that regulation of T-bet expression by estrogen might underlie the decreased IFN-γ+ NK cell infiltration in female mice and contribute to sex differences in myocarditis, in line with prior reports of hormonal regulation of other ILC subsets (100, 348).
