MAGEC2 and cancer: Figure 3B also shows that although MAGEC2 is known to be upregulated in malignant forms of many cancers (21–23, 25, 43), its function as a Ca2+ modulated protein has not been demonstrated. Analysis of interactions with other high Ca2+ inducible genes revealed that it interacts with the high Ca2+ inducible SSX1 (Figure S3), a member of the SSX family of transcriptional repressors.
