The potential explanation might be ICAM‐1 and VCAM‐1 could regulate atherosclerosis, hence ICAM‐1 and VCAM‐1 levels could reflect the development of atherosclerosis to some extent15; meanwhile HDAC4 could regulate the invasion of vascular smooth muscle cells and apoptosis of endothelial cells to inhibit the development of atherosclerosis,10, 24 thus, HDAC4 was negatively correlated with these two adhesion molecules.
