The activation of inducible NOS (iNOS), which leads to decrease of arginine, has been reported in ISO-induced myocardial apoptosis and injury by increasing reactive oxygen species (ROS), and arginine pretreatment can attenuate ISO-induced cardiac hypertrophy via regulating the expression of iNOS and eNOS [36, 37]. This evidence concerns the gene NOS3 and cardiac hypertrophy.
