Based on the important roles of coagulation and fibrinolysis in OI development, a recent study demonstrated that preoperative plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid and tissue factor in both serum and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid were significant factors related to the development for OI in patients with Stanford type-A AAD [13]. The gene discussed is SERPINE1; the disease is osteogenesis imperfecta.
