A recent neuronal investigation (Georgia et al., 2017) found that CBD blocked Aβ-induced neurotoxicity, tau protein hyperphosphorylation, and the activities of iNOS and interleukin-1β, highlighting a unique pharmacological mechanism as compared to currently approved anti-dementia drugs, resulting in reduced inflammation in neuronal tissues and neurogenesis for the treatment of dementia. This evidence concerns the gene MAPT and dementia.
