Many studies have shown that ACE 2 plays an important role in insulin resistance [33], and that Ang (1–7) responds to ACE 2 signaling via the MAS receptor [34], with FVB/N Mas-deficient mice exhibiting insulin resistance and glucose intolerance [35], implying that Ang (1–7) signaling is involved in the development of type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome [36,37]. This evidence concerns the gene ANGPT1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
