In conclusion, we synthetized and investigated a novel series of pyrazolo[4,3-c]pyridine sulfonamides for their effective inhibition against the most relevant human carbonic anhydrase isoforms, such as the ubiquitous hCA I and hCA II isoforms and the tumor-associated isoforms hCA IX and XII, which are implicated in many diseases such as glaucoma, retinitis pigmentosa, epilepsy, and tumors. The gene discussed is CYP24A1; the disease is retinitis pigmentosa.
