Depending on the type of A-TTR, the clinical features of these pathologies include a diffuse polyneuropathy, a severe form of cardiomyopathy, or severe neurological symptoms; the latter include seizures, stroke-like episodes, dementia, psychomotor deterioration, hydrocephalus, spinal cord infarction, and variable amyloid deposition in the vitreous humor.
