As for HIV-specific factors, the length of HIV was significantly associated with the risk of severe COVID-19 at univariate, but not confirmed at multivariate analysis; it is reasonable to think that PLWH with a longer history of disease, even if with suppressed HIV viral load and a good CD4+ T-cell count, may have higher levels of inflammation and immune dysfunction [40,41] that may lead patients to develop more severe COVID-19. This evidence concerns the gene CD4 and immune system disorder.
