CD4 and Rotavirus infection: The direct effector contribution of T-cells has been shown in murine model depletion and adoptive studies where depletion of CD8 T-cells resulted in the delayed rate of resolution of rotavirus infection, CD4 T-cell depletion was associated with chronic viral shedding and complete loss of protection [14], and adoptive transfer of rotavirus primed CD4 and CD8 T-cells resulted in shorter rotavirus shedding [43].
