Contrary to our results, Lardone et al. [27] showed that, in Leydig cell clusters obtained by laser-capture microdissection from men with SCOS and signs of Leydig cell dysfunction (i.e., T/LH ratio below 2.0), mRNA expression of CYP17A1 was significantly increased in comparison to men with SCOS and without signs of Leydig cell dysfunction (i.e., T/LH above 2.0). Here, PLOD1 is linked to small cell osteogenic sarcoma.
