Although sclerostin and DKK1 are negative regulators of the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway and either could individually contribute to the regulation of bone architecture, the wider distribution of the production of DKK1 [16] and no significant correlation between DKK1 and BMD in this study led us to assume that the serum DKK1 level might not be a valuable biomarker for predicting bone status in HD patients. The gene discussed is DKK1; the disease is Huntington disease.
