We hypothesized that overexpression of CAMTA1 would render colorectal cancer cells more sensitive to oxaliplatin (i.e., more sensitive to apoptosis) than overexpression of an empty vector, and this would be clearly supported by the finding that the ability of CAMTA1-overexpressed cells to inhibit tumor growth would be significantly greater than that of control cells. The gene discussed is CAMTA1; the disease is colorectal cancer.
