The mean ± SEM plasma CD5L concentration as analyzed by ELISA in HS patients was 6.4 ± 0.6 μg/ml, while this parameter increased steadily in CC and AD patients, peaked in patients with ACLF (grade 1), and then dropped in those with the most severe forms of the disease (ACLF grades 2 and 3), reaching statistical significance in patients with ACLF grade 3 with respect to AD and ACLF grade 1 (Figure 4A). This evidence concerns the gene CD5L and Alzheimer disease.
