In this context, our result demonstrated the presence of ntrk1 and ngfrb, orthologues of TrkA and p75 in different layers in the retina of adult zebrafish and represent the first piece of evidence of the conservation of NGF retinal expression pattern between adult mammals and fish, suggesting that the potential therapeutic effects of rhNGF can be assessed in a zebrafish model of retinal degeneration.
