The major limitation of our study is that after the acute Mtb infection (above 30 dpi), the physiology of adipose tissue may improve due to the resolution of inflammation, which may increase insulin sensitivity at least in RD fed infected mice; thus, our study does not reveal whether Mtb infection induced insulin resistance in adult mice is transient or pathogenic to T2DM progression. This evidence concerns the gene INS and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
