In a separate study, Healy et al. showed that myeloid-related protein-14 (S100A9) is overexpressed in platelets from patients with acute ST-segment–elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) compared to patients with stable coronary artery disease (CAD), suggesting a new candidate biomarker for stable coronary artery disease [21].
