At the beginning of 2021, tiragolumab was granted breakthrough therapy designation by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in combination with atezolizumab (anti-PD-L1 mAb) in the first-line treatment of metastatic NSCLC patients whose tumours have high PD-L1 expression but no EGFR mutations or ALK rearrangements. This evidence concerns the gene CD274 and non-small cell lung carcinoma.
