The present study also showed that captopril and nitrite exert similar inhibitory effects on NASH pathology in the liver and heart, suggesting that the Ang II-AT1R pathway could be a common pathway inhibited by both nitrite and captopril, and the same pathway may be involved in the development of NASH pathology in the liver and heart. The gene discussed is AGTR1; the disease is metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis.
