Although studies from MORG1+/− mice revealed that reduced MORG1 expression is renoprotective and diminished the development of diabetic nephropathy in a mouse model of type 2 diabetes mellitus [18], it reduced renal injury in systemic hypoxia [19] and shows an anti-inflammatory function in septic AKI models [27]; the mechanisms regulating the MORG1 expression are not investigated.
