It has been experimentally shown that an increased level of P-gp in neoplastic cells may be a consequence of miR-451 and miR-27a overexpression (in the case of MDR and ovarian cancer cell lines) [68,69] or the negative regulatory role of miR-451 (in the case of breast cancer [70], leukemia cell lines [71], and hepatocellular carcinoma [72]).
