Required for melanocyte development, melanoma tumorigenicity, co-activator for MITF and SOX10, promotes melanin synthesis, increases resistance to DNA-damaging agents [47,75,77,78,79,80]. Promotes tumorigenesis in BRAFV600E-driven mouse models [89]. Suppresses tumorigenesis in orthotopic models of melanoma [90].
