Surprisingly, only the IF mutation was detected in the progeny, indicating that this was the only allele that was incorporated into the germ cells; however, homozygous IF piglets, derived from intercrossing heterozygous IF parents, demonstrated the GAPO phenotype with frontal bossing, short snouts, post-legged stance, and cataracts (Fig. 5B–D).
