Several pathophysiological aspects of obesity have been discussed as causative for this observation, such as (i) lower levels of cytokines (i.e., IL-6 & IL-8), (ii) larger number of phenotype M2 macrophages, which work antiinflammatory, (iii) as well as greater quantities of lipids/ lipoproteins that bind and inactivate endotoxins [20, 21]. This evidence concerns the gene CXCL8 and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
