Importantly, CGE treatments increased transcription of hair growth-related factors—sex-determining region Y-box 2 (SOX2, a direct transcriptional regulator regulating the rate of HF growth in hDPCs), insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1, IGF-1 was shown to affect follicular proliferation, tissue remodeling, and the hair growth cycle, as well as follicular differentiation) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF, VEGF is one of the most potent regulators of physiological and pathological angiogenesis and is an essential factor for hair growth) in hDPCs (Fig 1E)[13,22,23]. The gene discussed is SOX2; the disease is hydrops fetalis.
