Remarkably, when zooming into the GBM tumor region, we identified a unique cluster (green) that is largely located at the periphery of GBM tumor with a very high newly synthesized protein component in its metabolic profile (Figure 5E), which might be associated with the highly activated expression of Akt and mTOR in the GBM periphery region[31] with an important role in stimulating protein synthesis and cell growth.[33] Similar intratumoral metabolic heterogeneity was found in another GBM‐containing brain specimen (Figure 5F) with spectral information listed in Figure S3.
