Using FITC‐Annexin V/propidium iodide (PI) staining combined with flow cytometry analysis, we found that 3 of the 5 hit compounds (Chaetocin, Combretastatin A4 and Shikonin) significantly induced SCLC cell apoptosis, including the increased subpopulation of both early (Annexin V+/PI−) and late (Annexin V+/PI+) apoptotic cells, when compared to the vehicle‐treated cells (Figure 2D,E). The gene discussed is ANXA5; the disease is small cell lung carcinoma.
