A recent study evaluating the prognostic value of protease inhibitors and various inflammatory markers in dogs with AP identified lower serum antithrombin activity in nonsurvivors compared with survivors, and higher canine acute pancreatitis severity (CAPS) scores were positively correlated with serum cPLI, C‐reactive protein (CRP) and interleukin‐6 (IL‐6) concentrations and negatively corelated with serum antithrombin activity.31 The gene discussed is CRP; the disease is cryopyrin-associated periodic syndrome.
