Altogether, we reported marked differences in FSTL1 secretion between cell types, during co-culture of CMs and FBs and upon change from normoxic to long- and short-term hypoxia (Figures 6E and S3), pointing to the in vivo role of FSTL1 in CM-FB communication during normoxia and hypoxia, as present in ischemic heart disease.
