Cxcl10 ascites concentrations, by contrast, were not affected by Cxcl9 tumour cell overexpression (median 11.0 vs. 9.8 pg/mg total protein; P = 0.38; Fig. 1c), suggesting that expression levels of CXCR3 chemokines in the ascites of ovarian cancer patients are mainly driven by tumour cell expression as proposed before by our group [12, 26]. The gene discussed is CXCL9; the disease is ovarian cancer.
