Several studies have described the effects of multiple kinase inhibitors on CLL cells and have, for example, shown increased induction of apoptosis with dual inhibition of AKT and MEK [52], [53] although it should be noted that effective inhibition of AKT may be difficult to achieve clinically due to activation of compensatory mechanism [54].
