Post-mortem brain and spinal cord tissues of C9-ALS/FTD patients revealed some highly characteristic pathological features in addition to the TDP-43 pathological lesions, including RNA foci and protein aggregates containing dipeptide repeats (DPRs) and the autophagy adaptor protein p62/sequestosome1 (p62) [34, 35]. This evidence concerns the gene TARDBP and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
