The presence of RNA foci, consisting of sense and anti-sense G4C2 repeat RNA, the spliced intron 1 of the gene, or the complete C9orf72 (pre-)messenger RNA (mRNA), has been described in C9-ALS/FTD brain and spinal cord tissues [14, 27, 36]. The gene discussed is C9orf72; the disease is amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
