GUCA2A and colorectal carcinoma: Bashir et al. (2019) showed that a low level of GUCA2A silences the tumor inhibitory receptor, GUCY2C, in pathophysiological conditions, and leads to microsatellite instability in tumors. Loss of GUCA2A has been observed in CRC and inflammatory bowel disease, in which it may be associated with the disruption of intestinal homeostasis (Brenna et al., 2015; Zhang et al., 2019). Zhang et al. (2019) used analysis of the TCGA database to show that GUCA2A is associated with poor overall survival, which is consistent with our results.
