NFKB1 and Anxiety: Recent findings show that disrupted gut microbiota is associated with autoimmune disease and neuroinflammation, as indicated by increased serum levels of the pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-6 and NF-κB (Estes and McAllister, 2015; Schnorr and Bachner, 2016), suggesting that inflammatory response could be potential mediator of gut dysbiosis on inducing anxiety.
