Previous study reported that DNMT1 was notably upregulated in fibrotic kidneys compared with other DNMTs, and DNMT1 inhibition effectively mitigated structural and functional damage in kidney from several CKD models (Sun et al., 2012; Yin et al., 2017; Gao et al., 2022), supporting DNMT1 is emerging as a player and a therapy target in CKD (Zhang et al., 2017). This evidence concerns the gene DNMT1 and chronic kidney disease.
