In the situation with elevated aminotransferases, the mean level of serum ceruloplasmin in the 249 asymptomatic WD patients (5.5 ± 4.7 mg/dL) was significantly lower than that in the 38 patients with viral hepatitis (32.5 ± 7.9 mg/dL) (p < 0.001).
