Future studies will utilize siRNA or a conditional floxed Piezo1-knockout mice under direction of a uroplakin B promotor to knockdown Piezo1 in the urothelium and examine the effects of local PIEZO1 inhibition on calcium activity and pathological bladder function to determine a more definitive role for PIEZO1 in CYP-induced cystitis as well as in normal bladder function. This evidence concerns the gene PIEZO1 and cystitis.
