Current biomarkers of AD pathology are obtained through lumbar puncture (cerebrospinal fluid Aβ1-42, Aβ1-42/1–40, hyperphosphorylated tau and total tau) [15, 16] and positron emission tomography (PET) imaging (amyloid PET and tau PET) [17–19].
