Many clinical and biochemical markers correlated with MetS and CVD in menopausal women such as premature (age < 40 years) or early (age 40–45 years) at the onset of menopause [10–12], type of menopause (natural, surgical) [13], frequent hot flushes [14–17], early onset of hot flushes (age < 42 years) [15–18], inflammatory biomarkers [CRP, IL-6, and homocysteine-like Lp(a)] [8, 19], and visceral fat biomarkers (adiponectin, leptin, ghrelin) [20]. The gene discussed is ADIPOQ; the disease is metabolic syndrome.
