Moreover,HPT has also been evaluated as a marker for distinguishing NASH fromhepatic steatosis.55 Kamada and co-workersfound fucosylated and hypersialylated forms of HPT to be useful markersfor distinguishing NASH from NAFLD and HCC from controls.45,55 Our results confirm many of these findings and would justify furtherstudy of the use of HPT glyco-isoforms as markers for the diagnosisof NASH or HCC.
