As in most fungi, N. psidii MA3 contained three mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPK) with suggested functions in the regulation of infection-related morphogenesis, cell wall remodeling, high osmolality stress response and furthermore associated with virulence of several soil-borne pathogens that cause wilt disease symptoms in a variety of crops (Hamel et al., 2012). Here, WNK2 is linked to infection.
