GUCY2C and colonic neoplasm: A previous study reported that guanylyl cyclase C (GUCY2C) could act as a tumor suppressor and play an important role in orchestrating intestinal homeostatic mechanisms, which could be used as a therapeutic target for colon cancer patients (such as the FDA-approved oral GUCY2C ligand linaclotide, LinzessTM) (Pattison et al., 2016).
