A recent study found that mutations in peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARγ), a transcription factor connecting glucose and fatty metabolism, led to immune suppression, such as inhibiting the infiltration of CD8+ T cells in the tumor microenvironment, which may play an important role in checkpoint inhibition in BLCA (Korpal et al., 2017). This evidence concerns the gene CD8A and bladder transitional cell carcinoma.
