Anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK), discovered in 1994, is a transmembrane receptor tyrosine kinase that have been identified in several types of cancer, including anaplastic large cell lymphoma(ALCL) (13), inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (14), and non-small-cell lung cancer(NSCLC) (5). The gene discussed is ALK; the disease is non-small cell lung carcinoma.
