Interestingly, the results of GO analysis showed that alteration of NSUN2 would affect m5C methylation on genes involved in viral process pathways (Supplementary Figure S8A), which suggest the interplay between NSUN2-mediated m5C modification and HPV infection, and would be a reason, in part, why NSUN2 plays a unique role to stimulate malignancy in cervical cancer but not in ovarian and endometrial cancers. This evidence concerns the gene NSUN2 and cervical cancer.
