Jiang et al. showed that xanthohumol inhibited the growth of PC cells and their xenograft tumors by inducing cell cycle arrest and apoptosis via inhibition of phosphorylation of the signal transducer, activation of the transcription 3, and expression of its downstream-targeted genes cyclinD1 and Bcl-xL. The gene discussed is CCND1; the disease is pachyonychia congenita.
