OXT and Borderline personality disorder: Oxytocin may especially impact the relationship between HRV, childhood trauma and attachment insecurity, as being conceptually and empirically linked to (1) the interaction between early-life stress and disturbed attachment in the pathogenesis of BPD (Herpertz and Bertsch 2015) and (2) IN-OT in dampening sympathetic activity at rest to facilitate capacity for adaptive self-regulatory behaviour (Norman et al. 2011; Kemp et al. 2012; Porges 2007).
