Overall, we demonstrated that a hypnotic dose of trazodone in humans (i.e., the equivalent of 194 mg/d) starting from 4 months of age, at which tau tangle-like inclusions are already present in the cortex and spatial memory is already impaired, is sufficient to transiently normalize neuroinflammation, sleep disturbances, and olfactory memory in the rTg4510 tauopathy-like mice. The gene discussed is MAPT; the disease is tauopathy.
