UPR activation correlates with tau burden in tauopathies (Nijholt et al., 2012) and the UPR PERK–eIF2α (eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2 α) pathway and its effector, the activating transcription factor 4 (ATF4), induce NLRP3 inflammasome activation (T. Li et al., 2020). This evidence concerns the gene NLRP3 and tauopathy.
