Olfactory memory dysfunction commonly occurs early and before other cognitive deficits in neurodegenerative diseases (Hawkes, 2003; Dintica et al., 2019), and is associated with tau pathology progression in Alzheimer's disease and frontotemporal dementia patients (Pardini et al., 2009; Lu et al., 2019). Here, MAPT is linked to early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
