We have studied, documented and discussed with evidence the relevance of antifreeze proteins to cryopreservation of oocytes, sperm cells, embryos, cancer cells, various tissues and organs, foods, etc. The challenges encountered therein and approaches for future research are also explored, which will serve as a guide to the recent trends in AFP application and stir the intellect of researchers towards innovative thinking as we strive to attain clinical approved and commercial AFP usage in cryopreservation protocols. This evidence concerns the gene AFP and cancer.
